ABOUT

The short:

Over the past decade I found myself watching my elders, whom I looked up to as a child and young adult, struggling to keep their home maintained; no longer being able to pay the high prices of contractors, they either gave up reluctantly selling their life long home or let their home crumble. With a passion to help others and years of experience fixing things, God inspired me: take all my talents and start a business that helps others; help the elderly, disabled, veterans, and police stay in their home for as long as God wills it. Thus the inception of Daddy Fix It. We at Daddy Fix It provide maintenance programs and repairs at an affordable price for those in need. We are also rolling out a sponsoring program as well; where those who were blessed with an abundance can assist without picking up a tool. If you know someone in need of home repairs/maintenance or willing to sponsor someone please let us know. Why the business name people ask. Well, I have a big family, seven kids now. Throughout the years, whenever something broke what would my kids say? “its ok, daddy fix it”. So, for God, my family, and you, we are here to serve.

The Long:

My parents divorced when I was very young. To me this meant that I needed to step up my understanding and wisdom of how to maintain a home. So, when something broke I was either helping a repair man while learning or fixing it myself. At nine years old, a plumber taught me plumbing. By the age of twelve, I was working as a maintenance man & janitor. I then learned how to be a machinist at age fifteen. I certainly respect anyone that does that for a living; I could not stand all the metal shavings. So, I moved on and learned all about cars. I was hired on and trained by a local automatic, meanwhile taking auto and shop classes in high school. Though I enjoyed working on cars, I knew it wasn’t a calling for me. So my senior year in high school I was offered a job as pressman, and always craving understanding and wisdom, (and it was a big pay increase) I took the job. The printing company really appreciated me; I was managing most of the paper side of the business in just over a year. They were and are still are a family owned business and despite them feeling like family I knew that it would not be a job for life. (The owners later attended my marriage) While working for the printing company, I was going to college and my freshman year in college I became infatuated with Physics. So, I became a physicist. My senior year of college I toured some large companies but just didn’t enjoy the idea. So, I decided to help high-schoolers to be infatuated with physics too; so, my teaching career began. During this time, I would also help out a local construction company on weekends, do remodeling jobs for people, and learning from my brother who later became a master carpenter. Meanwhile, I had met the girl of my dreams and felt God wanted me to marry her. We meet in college, persuaded her, and took her hand in marriage in 2008. All my life I wanted to get married and have a big family. But the dilemma; teachers don’t make that much money to support a big family; not to mention I wanted my bride to be able to stay home with our kids. So, I entered into a double masters program in government finance and educational leadership. Completed the degrees in no time and went job hunting. I was approached by a relatively conservative man that offered me a job in Labor Management & Relations but for a liberal company with a pay increase that I never imagined. I accepted the offer, and took the opportunity to work in a mission field. I actually enjoyed the job and was really good at it for six years until something I thought was illegal and immoral occurred. I refused to meet these immoral demands and thus was terminated. This occurred right before my seventh child was born. Fortunately a great friend of mine found me a job in something completely foreign to me, Insurance Sales. And seeing no other opportunities (excluding the messy IL education system) I accepted the job offer, after more education and certifications; our family barely got by for eight months. I knew sales was not something I enjoyed, but I had recognized that in all of my jobs I always enjoyed helping people. So, for eight months I helped lots of people but sold very little. (A friend of mine said I was like Mr. Incredible when he took the insurance sales job.) So,the company let me go. Then for the first time in my life I felt that God had something for me, His work, and I had no worries. Through job hunting, prayer, and God closing doors, God inspired me: take all my talents and start a business that helps others, especially the elderly, disabled, and veterans. For years, I had been hearing from so many seniors that they were being over-charged for home repairs, needing to maintain their home but no one willing to take care of the small stuff. Thus, the inception of Daddy Fix It. Why the name people ask, well as mentioned I have a big family, seven kids now. Throughout the years, whenever something broke, my kids would say “its ok, daddy fix it”. So, for God, my family, and you we, at Daddy Fix It, want to serve all those in need! God bless you!
